1938 Raleigh Sports Roadster
Both an everyday and leisure cycle, the Sports heralded a smaller, lighter future for bicycles and the same frame design was produced by Raleigh into the 1970s.
This Sports has been taken back to a 1938 configuration with 1930s Lucas lamps and dynamo, Ashby “Sports” Rack and a Lycett sprung saddle matching those fitted to this model by Raleigh. The exception being the 1950s Sturmey Archer 4 speed hub fitted by the original owner, which has been retained.
The other original components have been restored and refinished in chrome.
The 1938 catalogue paintwork has been recreated, with gold enamel head-tube and custom decals with a gold leaf effect finish.
Raleigh bicycles from this period feature an “all in one” cable design. At Bell’s we cast cable ends of various types and re-produce these cables.
