Motobecane 1978
The principle features of the late 1970s Motobecanes were attractive paint finishes, striking graphics and Shimano components.
Their racing product line stood out from the crowd with a modern look, using paint technology more commonly seen on high end Sport Cars. For this restoration we carefully matched the original light yellow, pearlescent paint finish
Shimano were relatively small-scale at the time. But from the outset their combination of performance at a low price would sow the seeds of their later rise to dominance. For the 1979/80 Grand Record, the Shimano 600 Groupset was used throughout.
This example is fitted racing tubular rims and tyres, the setup used by the bikes original owner. Otherwise we have recreated the original specification.
