1948 Humber Beeston Clubman

This very special bike belonged to our client Lin’s late father. Loved by her family but inevitably showing it’s age, Lin enlisted our team to bring it back to the bike she remembered from her childhood.

Post-War passion for Sports cycling also inspired Raleigh’s Clubman range. Intended for the more aspirational club cyclists, the Clubman featured lightweight, butted Reynolds tubing including attractive, thin stays. In addition to the Humber Clubman, Raleigh also produced Raleigh and Rudge variants.

Each with unique design elements and finishes.

This 1948 Humber Clubman was re-painted to match the original periwinkle blue “polychromatic” finish.

The decals were recreated from scratch using other examples as a reference. The correct replacements for the missing components were sourced.

This proved to be quite difficult as Raleigh made unique components just for the Clubman range so they are few and far between.

The original owner of the bicycle opted for a single speed set-up and this has been retained for the restoration.

Feedback from our client.

“I have recently had my father's bike restored with Bells bikes.  The bike is a Humber Beeston Clubman Sport

I found dealing with the Bells team an awesome experience. They were great to communicate with. The work on the bike was amazing - restored to it former glory and looks great. Attention to detail was outstanding.

Sadly dad passed away during the bike restoration so the work bike became particularly important to us as a family.  The Bells team were respectful and sensitive to our needs at that time

Overall  brilliant work lovely team amazing bike restoration” - Lin Coleman
