1957 Raleigh Sports Tourist Superbe
The Superbes were the top of the line of Raleigh’s roadster range, equipped with all the Bells and Whistles Raleigh had to offer such as stainless steel rims and spokes and usually finished in green with gold lining. The late 1950s models were particularly nice with attractively cut lugs and a Sturmey Archer 4 speed generator hub as standard.
This example came to us nearly completely original. We were able to restore and re-finish the existing components and source the few missing, such as correct Sturmey Archer 1950s lighting system and the specially designed Raleigh prop stand. The paintwork has been re-applied with gold box-lining using traditional paint and custom made decals made up to match the originals.
Like all the other parts, the Sturmey Archer 4 speed hub and shifter were completely disassembled, serviced and rebuilt.
The result is a Superbe very close to how it would have left Raleigh’s factory in 1957.
