1933 Raleigh Sports Light Roadster

A great example of a bike designed during the hey day of Raleigh club cycles.

The Sports Light Roadster was a shift for the Raleigh sports range, designing a bike that was lightweight (for the period) but had a focus on comfort.

This was created with more upright handlebars and larger wheels. Less suitable for fast starts but perfect for touring holidays.

Note the drop handlebars on our restoration are not part of the original design. Our client wanted to use the bike regularly and drop handlebars created a more sporty versatile bike for their needs. Handlebars from the 1930’s were sourced so we didn’t move too far away from the original aesthetic.

The Sturmey Archer K series 3 speed was in remarkably good condition and was still running the original chain.
